The Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival is excited to partner with the History Book Festival, which comes to Lewes, DE, on Friday Oct. 6th and Saturday Oct. 7th, the week before the Jazz Festival. The Book Festival is the first of its kind in the nation, focused exclusively on historical non-fiction and fiction and will include presentations by a wide variety of writers and on several topics. Check out their website for a full list of the books and events during the Festival: History Book Festival.
On Saturday, Oct. 7th, the Jazz Festival will co-sponsor with the History Book Festival Martin Torgoff’s discussion and musical presentation of his new book, Bop Apocalypse: Jazz, Race, the Beats and Drugs (http://www.martintorgoff.com), which covers the history of jazz and its controversial relationship to illicit drugs during the 20th century.
And, during the Jazz Festival weekend, on Sunday October 15th at 1 pm, we will co-sponsor with the History Book Festival a special presentation of Torgoff’s book and the jazz it focuses on at the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater, 17704 Dartmouth Drive, Lewes (immediately behind the Wawa on Route 1).
